So i like RPGs.
Yay.
My most recent RPG obsession is A3, or Alien Adoption Agency, although noone ever refers to it as that. i'm not sure how long it will last, but i've been a fairly active member for.. 61 days. [That's 2 months! Don't tell me i never persist!] And i'm level 66, ranked at 1,817. Hopefully moving further up the scale as we speak. Wait. Speak? Type. Yes, type. Although not really, because i can't be on A3 while i'm writing this because my computer doesn't allow me to do that. It is a rather brilliant distraction. In fact, it's such good distraction that i don't have much motivation [pun, yes] to write this because i'm busy battling The_Grecian for some Guild points. My guild is called Black Magic. We *were* ranked number 8 but then new systems were introduced and we're now at 17 and losing an average of 7K points a day.
So basically in A3 you're an alien, or you've adopted an alien. It's undecided which one. Either way, there's an alien involved. The overall aim is be the best alien, or so we're told when we sign up for the thing. To do this, there's a thing called "Awards Hall." This is a list of all the aliens and their rankings. To climb the rankings you get AH points. More points = higher ranking. To get AH points you have to do stuff. *gasp* There's a rather long list, but it's things like mining, fishing, battling, gambling, etc. Then there's the Echoplane, the Clearing, Loza Arena, Spacefaring, CDC [Centre for Disease Control]. You can see why i like this game, yea? It's stupid but it's kills time and it's so unrelated and untriggering. Except once you're out of motivation there's not much more you can do until reset, besides CDC, real time chat, and posting on the message boards, which isn't altogether exciting unless there's interesting people online. Motivation is required to do almost everything, see. It gets topped up a certain amount at reset depending on whether you're subscribed or not. (i'm not.)
One thing that needs to be done to do certain things is to learn Leet. Not the RL leetspeak, but Leet. And this, i should add, is an incredibly long process. To do it, you have to
1. go to Georgetown, downtown, then Cafe Giardia and talk to Pierre the annoying French Robot. He is the only Leet Speaking Robot which will teach you Leet.
2. Pierre needs ze parts for ze upgrade.
3. So you go back to Georgetown, City Limits, then to the Junkyard to Rummage About.
4. Go back Downtown to the Cafe and to Pierre.
5. Pierre says "No no zis part iz useless to me.. Zis is.. Zis is... What is zis?!"
6. Or, maybe, Pierre will say, "Ah! Ze part of my dreams!" and you will learn *a* letter. Not lots of letters, but a *single* letter.
7. This process will work only once a day.
8. To learn Leet, you have to learn all 26 letters and 10 numbers.
9. i don't know if you can do basic addition, but 26 + 10 = 36.
10. That's 36 parts to give to Pierre for his freaking upgrades. He's so greedy.
11. i currently only know all the letters up to J.
12. 10 down, 26 to go.
Thing is, until you learn Leet, you can't mine syn when spacefaring, you can't quantum wok, you can't do quite a few things. And i'm determined to learn this language, so i guess i'll be sticking around A3 for a while longer..
So i just went to check up on Echoplane, and SOMEONE HARASSED ALL MY WORKERS. Screw them. i had 42K correspondents and 30K Quartermasters! Gone! Now i have to train them all up again! Growlface. DIE, DEATH BEFORE DISHONOUR, i will have to go steal all your chits and weapons, like NOW.
F5 is your friend...
