13 February, 2009.
i was walking home from school and it was raining. It felt strange, that it was raining, because it was still summer and i hadn't walked home from school in the rain since before december. And of course when it's raining, hardly anybody is walking, which is the way i like it. i got to the park a street away from school and right in the middle of the footpath there was this butterfly, its wings outstretched: torn. Like the rain had physically killed it.

13 February, 2010.
i was looking for photos for the year later in 2010 and thought i didn't have any. Then i found an entire folder was dedicated to the day and it happened to be the day i went to Auckland with my mother for a funeral of some distant relative. Apparently i had fun with the settings on my camera that morning.

i'm not really sure who the funeral was for. But being part of Tainui apparently i have heaps of realtives in the Waikato region. So mum and i drove down to Hamilton which started at 11 or something so i was so busy trying to navigate without getting us lost that we didn't have time to fight. Which was a relief, until the ride back when we weren't in such a hurry. [i still somehow managed to take photos though..?]
We stopped in some random little town on the way back to Auckland and i found an Emily the Strange bag anddd a big black cat wood thing. It was rather amusing. Crap. It loaded sideways.  Meh. Oh well.
Fun wall painting:

Actually, in my opinion, the next night when we got back was when things started to go wrong for us this year. Like, really wrong, leading to where we are now. But that's another story.

[Edit: the above photo isn't of the funeral. It's the night afterwards at a function which apparently involved food.]
